The other day I was preparing supper and got caught up thinking about all
that I still had to do; Man!..no fun. Not to mention it was at night. Honestly,
during this hours I would rather just relax. In the midst of all that, a
thought crossed my mind, The parable of the talents. I would like to take a
different perspective from the way we
would normally view this parable and take your attention to this:
Matthew 25: 15
And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability;Just to give you an overview of the parable; A master went on a journey and left his three servants in charge of his property. When he came back, he asked his servants to account for what they had been given. Jesus used these kind of parables to teach people about how the kingdom of God works. In other words, it hit me that what has been put under my responsibility, has been entrusted to me, probably because I have the ability to handle it. Each servant in the parable was left in charge of the amount of property, which the master knew he could handle. Not only were the servants put in charge of watching over the property, but they were also expected to gain more even using that property. So much so that they could actually double what they had been initially given.
We can therefore view our situations in either two ways; unfair,
too much (lose hope) OR; I can do this through the strength of the Lord and I
trust He will get me through this. So by God's grace, nothing in my hands is beyond me. If
this does not charge your morale...You see the Lord already has a plan set for
us before we are even born. We see this in Jeremiah
1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet
to the nations". In this case, I can be grateful and rejoice, for if much
has been entrusted to me, then I have also been given great ability.
But it can be easy to talk about the challenges we know we
didn't cause and even be bold about them. So what happens when tasks or
challenges beforehand have been conceived from my mistakes? Do I then leave the
Lord out? Romans 8:28 says that, "..all things work together for good to
those who love God..." In that, even when I am experiencing the
consequences of my actions, I can trust God to get me through that, as long as
I let Him in. I love that the Lord is merciful. And don't you just love the
simplicity of the word, there is either Hot or Cold, no middle ground. So when
it says All things,
then that is what it simply means, All things, including a bad past. So be
strengthened; by God's Grace you have the ability to overcome whatever
situation you are in, just invite the Lord in.
